The Auto Investments North West Dragons are currently breathing fire, boasting a perfect four wins out of four in the 2024/25 T20 Challenge.
They kicked off their campaign with a thrilling three-run victory over the Knights at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein. Captain Wihan Lubbe’s steady 58 runs helped set a solid 149/4 in an 18-over match shortened by rain. A combined bowling effort, led by Duan Jansen’s three wickets and Migael Pretorius’ two runouts, saw the Dragons edge the Knights, restricting them to 146/6.
Back at their home ground, the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, the Dragons clinched another close win over World Sports Betting Western Province. The visitors were held to 142/9, thanks to excellent bowling from Jansen (3/34) and Lubbe (2/15). Lubbe’s half-century and Janneman Malan’s 26 guided the Dragons to a last-over victory.
Meeka-eel Prince starred in the Dragons’ third win, smashing an unbeaten 83* to post a defendable 176/5 against Goldrush Boland. Despite strong resistance from Boland’s Grant Roelofsen (63), Dragons prevailed with a narrow three-run win.
Their most recent victory came against Hollywoodbets Dolphins in Durban, where they bowled the hosts out for 93, with Bamanye Xenxe taking a scintillating 4/25 to seal a 43-run win.
